Drake Judo Club Appoints President - Allan Perry

Drake Judo Club is delighted to announce that we have appointed Allan Perry as President of our club,

This appointment is to recognise Allan's huge contribution to Judo in Plymouth and Devon over the last 40 years. Allan will be also able to pass on his vast knowledge and experience to the next generation of competitors here at Drake Judo Club.

Allan started Judo over 40 years ago after his 3 sons took up the sport(all of whom were very successful in their own right) and he went on to achieve his Dan grade(Black Belt) and began coaching youngsters including DJC's co founder Charles Knape! amongst hundreds of others

Allan is well known and well respected in the western area with many of the officials and coaches either having worked, trained or been coached by him.

Drake Judo Club Chairman and Co-founder Ross Taylor said

''Allan is quite simply synonymous with Judo in Plymouth and surrounding areas and was part of the legendary Plymouth coaching team which produced many champions throughout the 70's and 80's we are honoured that he has accepted this position and look forward to having him part of the DJC family''

Drake Judo Club Treasurer and Co-founder Charles Knape said

''Its no secret that my very first coach when I was 10 years old was Allan and he was a big part of the reason that Judo became my obsession, I'm very proud that he has become our President, helping us to deliver Judo to our juniors and seniors to show them why this is the best sport in the world''
