Squad session with Ben Fletcher
A few months ago DJC announced that Ben Fletcher had joined our coaching team for the next 12 months.
Ben is a former British and current Irish international, a 2016 Olympian, a Grand Prix winner and holder of a top 10 IJF world ranking. He is one of the best players in the world.
Ben trains full time under Juergen Klinger at Bath University, somewhere our players are getting more familiar with thanks to the North/South Western Area sessions
Ben led the session, assisted by DJC Head Coach Mike and concentrated the first session on fundamentals and movement, our players were obviously a little in awe to start with and nobody was very forthcoming with answers to any questions but this soon dissipated and the session flowed very well.
We are now all looking forward to Ben's next session in September, although some of our players will be seeing him at the Western Area Camp in Bideford.
DJC is now providing its Squad players with Monthly Ne-Waza sessions with World and Olympic Medallist Steve Gawthorpe and now monthly sessions with Ben. On top of this we are planning to add Elite coaches Steve Coles and Gary Gregory to the roster on Wednesday sessions to focus on some one to one time with our players to correct faults and concerntrate on specifics
